Katharina Borchert ist Online-Chefredakteurin des Regionalportals Der Westen.Das Portal für Nordrhein-Westfalen gehört zur WAZ-Mediengruppe und läutete im Oktober 2007 eine neue Ära im Lokaljournalismus ein: zugleich "Lokalzeitung und Regionalportal, Nachrichten- und Community-Seite mit lokaler Verwurzelung in einem. Es ist eine eierlegende Wollmilchsau, wie sie derzeit keine andere Zeitung in Deutschland zu bieten hat".
Katharina Borchert war Chefredakteurin der Zeitschrift das internet programm und freie Autorin u.a. für die FAZ, die Sonntags-FAZ, die Welt und c't und Lyssa im Weblog Lyssas Lounge.
Katharina Borchtert is the online chief editor of the regional portal Der Westen. The portal for North Rhine Westphalia belongs to the WAZ Media Group and initiated a new era in the local journalism branch: it is at once, according to the press report by spiegel.de, a local paper and a regional portal, a news and community site with local roots. It is a jack of all trades which no other newspaper has to offer in Germany at the moment.
